Winter Whites

Today we’re no longer living by the no-white-after-Labor-Day rule.  There are many ways to incorporate white into your winter wardrobe whether it’s white on white, adding a piece with some edge to make a statement or contrasting your basics.  Embrace these four looks to get inspiration on how to wear your whites this winter.

Super Bowl XLVI

As a football fan, I look forward to Super Bowl Sunday every year for the game, the commercials and the party with my friends.  But this year is extra exciting because my favorite team, the New York Giants are playing against the New England Patriots.  As I count down the days til the big game, I’ve been shopping around for a new outfit for Super Bowl XLVI!  Victoria’s Secret and the NFL Shop are two of my favorite places that offer some of the cutest clothes that support all NFL teams!

Bold Colored Pants

This spring pants will shine!  I’m absolutely in love with this spring’s trend of colored skinny jeans.  If you took a peak into my closest, you would find a mostly neutral pallete, but bold colored jeans are a fun way to play up some basics and welcome in the warmer weather!  Here are a few of my favorites:

1. J Brand Mid Rise Skinny Twill Jeans in Black Cherry

2. Toothpick Jean in Bright Papaya by J. Crew

3. Zelda Jean Legging in Blue by Express

Domestic Darling

I’m not quite the most domestic darling around, but I do have a love for baking and an admiration of Anthropologie’s apron collection.  In an effort to spend more time in the kitchen and possibly start cooking more, I think if I had one of these cutesy aprons, I’d be more inclined to spend more time being domestic in the kitchen!

Organize Your Closet

Overall, I consider myself to be an extremely organized individual.  However, certain things like your closet may need to be reorganized every now and then.  My over flowing closet is already pretty organized but one of my new years resolutions is to revisit it once every season to “re-organize”.  Follow my organizing tips below to help organize your closet too!

 -  Know your clothes!  Each season remove all of your clothes from your closet and “break-up” with the things that you haven’t worn in the past year, things that don’t fit you any more and anything that is old and falling apart.  I then like to donate some of these lightly worn clothes to local charities.

 -  Create functionality.  For the clothes that I have decided to keep for another season or maybe longer, I organize into categories (dresses, tops, pants, etc.)  Create a designated section in your closet for each group of clothes.  you can even organize each category by color if you want to be super organized!

 -  Invest in matching hangers.  When you open your closet you want your eyes to be drawn to your beautiful clothing, not all of your mismatched hangers!  Also, make sure as soon as you come home from the dry cleaners to remove the plastic from your clothes because that can be damaging to the fabric and swap the dry cleaners hanger out with one of yours.

 -  Be disciplined.  As soon as you take an article of clothing off make sure you either hang it back up in the same place or place it in a hidden hamper with other dirty clothes that need to be washed.

Give Back with Pura Vida Bracelets

A few months ago, I visited my best friend in San Diego.  This was my first trip to Southern California and I absolutely fell in love with it all from the weather to the beaches to the fashion trends!  While visiting I noticed people wearing Pura Vida bracelets every wear I went, including my friend!  I knew I needed to find a store to purchase some of my own before I made my trip back home to New Jersey.

I later found out that Pura Vida is more than just a hot accessory, it’s a way to give back too!  For every bracelet sold, Pura Vida donates 1% back to The Surfrider Foundation, an organization dedicated to protecting and preserving beaches and oceans worldwide.  Pura Vida also makes bracelets that support the armed forces or your own favorite charities like Breast Cancer Awareness.

Each bracelet is hand made in Costa Rica by the area’s finest artisans and sell for $5 to $12. They represent living life to the fullest and are meant to be a celebration of each day as a gift.  Express yourself while supporting a good cause by mixing and matching your favorite bracelets!

Take 20% off your entire order at PuraVidaBracelets.com by using the promo code ‘NEWYEAR20′  (offer ends 1/5)

How to Cover Dark Under Eye Circles

Did you too party like a rock star over the holiday season and have dark under eye circles to prove it?  Follow my how to guide to brighten you eyes back up in a few simple steps!

1. Start by dabbing on some eye cream to deflate puffy under eye bags and smooth fine lines.  Try Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum.

2. Next, camouflage circles by layer on concealer that matches your skin tone.  My favorite is Covergirl’s Smoothers Concealer Stick.

3. For a really wide awake look, apply a shimmery champagne eye shadow to the inner corners of your eyes, curl your eye lashes & swipe on some navy mascara. Voilà!

New Year, New Resolutions

“I do think New Year’s resolutions can’t technically be expected to begin on New Year’s Day, don’t you?  Since, because it’s an extension of New Year’s Eve, smokers are already on a smoking roll and cannot be expected to stop abruptly on the stroke of midnight with so much nicotine in the system. Also dieting on New Year’s Day isn’t a good idea as you can’t eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover. I think it would be much more sensible if resolutions began generally on January the second.”

- Helen Fielding, Bridget Jones’s Diary

What are some of your resolutions for 2012?

Holiday PJ’s

Ever since I was a little girl, I always made sure I went to bed on Christmas Eve in cute holiday PJ’s.  Growing up my parents liked to document Christmas morning through pictures and recording everyone opening presents from Santa.  Although some traditions have changed since me and my brothers have gotten older, I still like to wear holiday pajamas to bed the night before Christmas.  My favorite holiday PJ’s are from Victoria’s Secret.  You can purchase your very own Victoria’s Secret’s most-loved PJ’s now for $39.50 (regularly $49.50) by using the promo code: LOVESLEEP.  Plus, with your purchase of  Victoria’s Secret’s most-loved PJ’s, you can also receive a free matching pair of slippers by using the promo code:SLEEP11.  You can see more here from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
